Article: Stop or remove spam emails from wasting your time
Nowadays, everyone surfing the Internet is flooded with emails. About two third of them are annoying spam emails. If a good person or reputable company sends you an unwanted email, you can unsubscribe it by clicking on a link provided, usually at the bottom of email. However, it's not that simple when a spammer sends you his emails. Here are some
ways on how to stop and remove spam emails.
Do not un-subscribe or reply to any new spam email you've
received. Simply delete it. If you reply or unsubscribe, the
spammer knows that your email address is valid and send you
more spams. Worst, he may sell or trade emailing lists
containing your valid email address to other spammers.
If you have a web site, use a form to receive information
from surfers, and hide your email address. Then use a special
script to process this form and parse users' data to remove
spammer's emails. A script can also limit the number of emails
you'll receive in a day.
Disable 'cookie' feature from your browser, or enable
your browser to prompt you before receiving a cookie.
Obtain a free email account and use it for all junk mails you
may receive from forum sites, shopping sites, and sites that
might send you spams. Use this email address for any unimportant
emails, and later, delete all emails at this address to prevent
them from choking your account.
Use an anti-spam software such as SpamNet from
www.cloudmark.com. Download and try it for 30 days
before you buy.
You probably know a "Do Not Call" list established by the FTC
to register your phone which you don't want a solicitor to call.
Now, a spammer could create a similar "Do Not Spam" list.
Actually, a spammer uses this list to harvest emails from
online surfers.
Ask your Internet service provider (ISP) to install a spam
filter for your email address. You may need to pay a small fee.
Don't leave your email address at online guestbooks, newsgroup
areas where you might be swamped with emails. Use your free
email account for these places.
