After you've moved to a new residence for about one or two years, you can contact the utilities to request refunding your deposits, or you instruct them to use these deposits to pay the current balance due on utility bills. Certainly, you
need to be in good standing paying bills on time for them to

refund the deposits after certain time, which could amount to

information.

In case you move away and forget to ask for your deposits, or

abandoned. Your local city will follow the federal guidelines
on what to do with the Unclaimed Property.
