For both consumers and businesses, it's a good idea to check the quality of an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) before selecting and paying for its plans, or you can check how your current health plan rates. Go to National Committee for
Quality Assurance (NCQA) Website at www.ncqa.org.
This organization checks the quality of HMO/POS and give it one
of these rates:
Excellent, Commendable, Accredited, Provisional, or Denied

To see the report card on a quality of an HMO, at NCQA's website,
click on the link Report Cards near top on the right panel.
Notice that this is a volunteer program, so not all HMOs are
listed.
